It all started with the Dapol Terrier a few years ago. A nice model and relatively cheap for ‘O’ gauge and I could run it at a former club. Over the next few years several more loco’s were acquired.

With a suitable collection of wagons acquired second hand at exhibitions a layout was really required. This started with ideas of a small shunting puzzle without points and using a cassette fiddle yard to swap roads. This grew a little to incorporate at least a couple of points and a quay side. Finally with yet another drawing and an even longer board a plan came together. The final size of 8ft 6inchs was arrived at as that just fitted into the model railway room inside the ‘OO’ layout.

Not wanting to spend several days in the garage building the base boards I looked at White Rose to provide a quick and easy way to get started with two base boards purchased in kit form.

Harvey’s Wharf is not based on anywhere and on no particular region. The locos are mostly Dapol with one Heljan 05. The Lima 4F does run but usually rests on the over bridge together with an old Hornby brake van.
